Year 4

On 19th May 2017, Year 4 visited the Yorkshire Museum of Farming in York. They had a great time dressing up as Anglo-Saxons and experiencing life in a Saxon village. It was really hard work being a Saxon, the children had to grind their own flour using a quer stone which weighe more than they do! They also had to break up the soil for the crops to be planted. The children also learned how to make a Saxon-style oil lamp and they took part in a Saxon feast at lunch time. At the end of the day, the lady of the village told the children the story of beowulf in the Moot Hall.
