Our Buckstones Brass Band played at Manchester Cathedral for Medequip Charity at the beginning of December. They have also played at the Buskstones School Fair, Shaw Side and Laburnum House Nursing Homes, the School Music Festival, St.Pauls' Christmas Fair and St. Saviour's Christmas Fair.
On Tuesday 26th November we took children from Years 4, 5 and 6 to attend a cross-country competition against other schools in Shaw. They all ran their best and behaved beautifully and we can proudly announce that we came 1st! This is the first time we have achieved a first and hope this is not going to be the last. Well done to everyone who took part and also a big thank you to parents who helped transport the children.
Last year, Year 5 asked for cookery lessons. Following the fitting of a wonderful kitchen, with money raised by the Friends of Buckstones, we have now started a Buckstones Cookery Club on a Thursday after school. So far they have made flapjacks, pizza, chocolate and beetroot buns and gingerbread biscuits.
As part of raising money for charity we have just held a Knitathon to raise money for Age U.K. In conjunction with Innocent Smoothies grandparents, parents, Year 6 children and staff spent two hours after school knitting hats for smoothies ( As seen on T.V.). It was a great success and many wonderful hats were knitted. Everyone enjoyed the event- including the tea and biscuits! Thank you to all who supported the event.
